I just had to convert all of my short clips individually. I may have missed something, but I found that the Queue feature didn't remember the pixels requested, and after the first clip in any queue, it defaulted to the input resolution.

I was able to choose the output dimensions of the mp4 video, and I chose to reduce to old SD standards for a quick upload to YouTube. On another forum, I was pointed to "Handbrake" which I'd never heard of, but is open source, and seems to be lean software, and still in development.

YOU DO NEED TO BE RUNNING WINDOWS 7 THOUGH. This allows you to convert HD footage into HQX very easily. Grass Valley have now made their HQ and HQX codecs freeware, together with their very versatile AVDHD2HQ converter utility. One of the major advantages of using an intermediate format like Grass Valley HQX - or Cineform HD - is that it is much easier to deal with on older PCs.Ĭonverting HD footage to HQX or Cineform gives you an intraframe format which makes editing HD much more like editing DV footage in the 'old days' !
